Are you searching for the right type of acne scar treatment in the UK? Maybe you’re unsure what specific procedure you need – and which one will give you the best results?
I offer a range of in-clinic acne scarring treatments – all of which provide effective results. But which acne scarring treatment is right for you? Well, it all depends on the type of acne scar you have.
With various treatment solutions available, it’s important you choose the one that’s appropriate to you and your individual needs.
I know this can be confusing. That’s why I’m about to break down your options.
Here is my complete guide to choosing the right acne scarring treatment.
Before I treat your acne scars, let’s identify what type of acne scars you have. Each scar is unique and responds differently to the various acne scarring treatments available.
Flat, shallow depressions in the top layer of the skin – typically caused by severe cystic acne.
Deeper and narrow indentations – usually in the cheeks.
Broader and deeper depressions. Mostly caused by widespread acne, rashes, and chickenpox.
Raised lumps of scar tissue, around the same size as the original acne spots that caused them.
Darkening and discolouration of the skin, usually a purple, red or brown mark. Sometimes these dark spots clear on their own.
Now it’s time to find the best acne scarring treatment for you here in London – one that suits your acne scar type. I offer a range of acne scar removal procedures, including:
What is it?
A signature multi-modality combination therapy treatment uses more than one scar treatment method to stimulate the skin in different ways. I find that multiple therapies are more effective than one single isolated treatment – your skin will respond to some treatments better than others.
What does SMART PRP stand for?
Subcision
Microneedling
And
Radiofrequency
TCA Cross
Platelet
Rich
Plasma
During the initial skin assessment, I can set you a bespoke plan of any combination of therapies – two, three, four or more. However, you may not need all of the above modalities. I don’t want you wasting time and money on treatments you don’t need, so I’ll assess your scars and personalise the therapy to what I think will work best.
Best for: All types of acne scarring, but I’ll tailor multiple therapies according to your needs.
What is it?
(Chemical Reconstruction Of Skin Scars) uses careful placements of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) to help re-organise dermal structure and stimulate collagen production. The aim is to help lift indented scars back to normal skin level.
I tailor the concentration of TCA according to your skin type and the depth of your acne scars. And find that TCA CROSS is the most successful treatment for deep acne scars.
Best for: Deep ice pick scars that haven’t responded well to other laser therapies. Not suitable for raised hypertrophic scars.
What is it?
A patented skin modelling solution and successor to the well-known concept of ‘chemical peels’. The active ingredients of enerpeel work by remodelling deeper layers to minimise skin trauma to surface level.
After a consultation, I’ll prescribe a bespoke peel which will include one of the following:
Mandelic Acid 40%
Salicylic Acid 30%
Pyruvic Acid 50%
Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)
Best for: Most types of mild acne scarring, especially rolling and boxcar scars.
What is it?
A combination of microneedling and radiofrequency that stimulates collagen production and treats the appearance of acne scars. Patented by Lutronic Aesthetics, the Infini device uses microscopic needles that transfer radiofrequency energy into the dermis.
Unlike radiofrequency or microneedling alone, using a combo makes it more effective on all types of skin.
Best for: Hypertrophic, boxcar, and rolling scars. Not suitable for ice pick scars.
What is it?
A highly advanced skin rejuvenation therapy system that uses a pen-like device to stimulate collagen production, minimise pore size, and improve skin texture. You’ll experience very little pain or discomfort.
It’s also suitable for treating delicate areas around the nose and eyes.
Best for: Hypertrophic, boxcar, rolling scars. Not suitable for ice pick scars.
What is it?
Subcision is a minor in-clinical surgical procedure that uses a small needle to loosen and break the fibres that connect the acne scar to the underlying skin tissue. The aim is to raise the skin and improve the appearance of the acne scar.
Best for: Rolling and boxcar scars. Not suitable for hypertrophic scars.
